"El pantano" is the story of a woman, Ines, who is just about to turn thirty and decides to leave the big city and her job as a doctor in a private clinic to move to a country village.

The village she chooses is where her sister Claudia has opened a small hotel along with her husband and children. Ines breaks off with her boyfriend, turns down a stressful career in private practice and believes she is going to a better life-style. She has just barely had time to get settled in the village and start work as the local doctor when she discovers that some of the adolescents in the village are suffering from a strange unidentified disease. But the efforts of the young doctor to discover the cause of the disease are going to run into a lot of obstacles.
